Camp Creek Golf Club
Tom Fazio designed Camp Creek and described it as a “dunescape” design for its natural seaside terrain. Located a stone’s throw from the Gulf of Mexico, you are invited to come out and enjoy a beautiful natural setting, a great golf course, and warm hospitality.
It's been said that Fazio's courses "look hard but play easy." Known for building courses that appeal to all levels of player-skills, he is also acclaimed for consulting with nature to bring out the best attributes of a site.
Among them are Shadow Creek, Black Diamond, World Woods, Wild Dunes, Wade Hampton, and Nos. 4, 6, 8 at Pinehurst. With over 120 courses to his credit, each course is unique. Fazio takes pride in the way his designs respond to the challenges and gifts each location presents. That is especially true at Camp Creek, where Fazio has shaped a 7,151-yard, par-72 course with a significant wetland system that he has used to accent the golf experience. The Origins Course
The Origins Course at WaterSound's aim is to make golf more fun, accessible and attractive to families, beginners and casual golfers. It offers a nice change of pace to those players waylaid by the challenges at Camp Creek and Shark's Tooth, but this track is not a pushover and is well worth the time to play. A six-hole regulation course that alternatively plays as a nine-hole executive course and a 10-hole par-3 layout, The Origins Course was conceived with the "short course" concept at its core.
Designed by Love Golf Design, which was founded by PGA Tour player Davis Love III, the course is consistent with the Scottish origins of the game, in which six, nine and 12-hole courses were commonplace. More on Origins Golf Club >
The Nicklaus Course at Bay Point
The Nicklaus Course at Bay Point is the first and only Nicklaus Design course in Northwest Florida and is truly of epic proportion. It measures more than 7,000 yards with a slope rating of 143 and a course rating of 75.3. The layout lends itself for a truly memorable round, regardless of skill level. It plays along the natural terrain of majestic scrub oaks, towering Florida pine trees, sandy-white waste areas and salt-water marshes. The layout features “illusionary” bunkers that are strategically placed to tempt golfers through a “risk/reward” scenario and uncharacteristic elevation changes that are unique to Northwest Florida.
The course was redesigned and renovated from 2004-2005 and re-opened under its new name, the Nicklaus Course at Bay Point on September 17, 2005. The Nicklaus Course opened to rave reviews and was named by Travel + Leisure Golf as one of the most worthy redesigns and notable debuts in the state of Florida. Its occasionally tight fairways, numerous bunkers and lakes provide an ever-changing set of challenges. Boasting 6,913 yards, it has the length to test the best golfer's distance. Even its advanced tees offer challenge as seen in handicap ratings which range from a 73 at the Ladies' Tees to a 73.3 at the Championship tees. More on The Meadows at Bay Point >
